Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI) mencatatkan capaian positif dalam pemeringkatan bidang ilmu Blockchain and Cryptography yang dirilis oleh EduRank. Dalam daftar tersebut, UNSRI menempati peringkat ke-13 di Indonesia, peringkat ke-1.020 di Asia, serta peringkat ke-2.190 dunia untuk bidang Blockchain dan Cryptography. Posisi tersebut menempatkan Universitas Sriwijaya di antara 20 perguruan tinggi Indonesia yang tercantum dalam pemeringkatan EduRank untuk bidang tersebut. UNSRI berada dalam persaingan bersama sejumlah perguruan tinggi negeri dan swasta terkemuka di Indonesia, seperti Institut Teknologi Bandung, Telkom University, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Universitas Indonesia, dan Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember.
Pemeringkatan ini merefleksikan visibilitas dan performa luaran ilmiah institusi pada bidang blockchain dan kriptografi. Capaian tersebut juga menjadi dorongan bagi UNSRI untuk terus memperkuat pengembangan riset pada teknologi digital yang relevan dengan kebutuhan masa kini, khususnya sistem terdistribusi, keamanan informasi, perlindungan data, serta inovasi berbasis blockchain. EduRank menyusun daftar universitas terbaik di Indonesia untuk bidang Blockchain and Cryptography berdasarkan kinerja riset. Penilaian dilakukan melalui analisis publikasi ilmiah dan dampaknya dalam bentuk sitasi, bukan berdasarkan jenjang pendidikan yang tersedia maupun program studi yang ditawarkan oleh setiap universitas.
Dalam pemeringkatan tersebut, EduRank menggunakan data dari 3,91 ribu artikel ilmiah yang memperoleh total 19,7 ribu sitasi, berasal dari 20 universitas di Indonesia. Nilai publikasi kemudian disesuaikan dengan waktu terbitnya artikel sebelum diakumulasikan menjadi skor akhir setiap institusi. Dengan pendekatan tersebut, peringkat yang diperoleh UNSRI menunjukkan kontribusi riset institusional yang terindeks dan mendapatkan perhatian dalam ekosistem akademik bidang Blockchain and Cryptography. Pemeringkatan ini tidak dimaksudkan sebagai penilaian kualitas program sarjana maupun pascasarjana secara langsung, melainkan sebagai gambaran performa riset pada bidang spesifik tersebut.

Capaian UNSRI turut didukung oleh aktivitas pengembangan riset blockchain di lingkungan Fakultas Ilmu Komputer (FASILKOM) UNSRI. Kontribusi para peneliti, publikasi ilmiah, kerja sama akademik, dan pengembangan kajian teknologi terdistribusi menjadi bagian penting dalam penguatan ekosistem riset bidang ini. Bidang blockchain dan kriptografi memiliki keterkaitan erat dengan berbagai kebutuhan teknologi modern. Blockchain mendukung pencatatan data yang terdistribusi dan dapat diverifikasi, sedangkan kriptografi berperan dalam menjaga kerahasiaan, integritas, autentikasi, dan keamanan pertukaran informasi. Keduanya relevan bagi berbagai sektor, termasuk layanan digital, tata kelola data, sistem keuangan, rantai pasok, identitas digital, dan keamanan siber. Ke depan, capaian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi semangat bagi sivitas akademika UNSRI untuk terus meningkatkan kualitas penelitian, memperluas kolaborasi nasional dan internasional, serta menghasilkan luaran riset yang memberi manfaat nyata bagi masyarakat dan perkembangan teknologi.
Peringkat ke-13 nasional ini menjadi momentum bagi Universitas Sriwijaya untuk semakin memperkuat fokus riset dan inovasi pada bidang blockchain, kriptografi, keamanan siber, serta teknologi terdistribusi. Penguatan tersebut dapat diwujudkan melalui peningkatan publikasi berkualitas, kolaborasi lintas disiplin, keterlibatan mahasiswa dalam penelitian, dan kemitraan dengan institusi akademik maupun industri.
UNSRI berkomitmen untuk terus mendorong budaya riset yang produktif, adaptif, dan berdampak. Sriwijaya University (UNSRI) achieved positive results in the Blockchain and Cryptography subject rankings released by EduRank. In the list, UNSRI ranked 13th in Indonesia, 1,020th in Asia, and 2,190th globally in the field of Blockchain and Cryptography. This position places Sriwijaya University among the 20 Indonesian universities listed in the EduRank rankings for this field. UNSRI is competing alongside a number of leading public and private universities in Indonesia, such as the Bandung Institute of Technology, Telkom University, the University of North Sumatra, the University of Indonesia, and the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology.
This ranking reflects the institution’s visibility and scientific output in the fields of blockchain and cryptography. This achievement also serves as an incentive for UNSRI to continue strengthening research and development in digital technologies relevant to current needs, particularly distributed systems, information security, data protection, and blockchain-based innovations. EduRank compiles a list of the top universities in Indonesia for the field of Blockchain and Cryptography based on research performance. The assessment is based on an analysis of scientific publications and their impact in the form of citations, rather than on the levels of education available or the degree programs offered by each university.
In this ranking, EduRank used data from 3,910 scientific articles that received a total of 19,700 citations, originating from 20 universities in Indonesia. The value of the publications was then adjusted according to the articles’ publication dates before being aggregated into a final score for each institution. Using this approach, UNSRI’s ranking reflects the institution’s contribution to indexed research that has garnered attention within the academic ecosystem of the Blockchain and Cryptography field. This ranking is not intended as a direct assessment of the quality of undergraduate or graduate programs, but rather as an indication of research performance in that specific field.

UNSRI’s achievements are further supported by blockchain research development activities within the Faculty of Computer Science (FASILKOM) at UNSRI. The contributions of researchers, scientific publications, academic collaborations, and the development of distributed technology studies play a vital role in strengthening the research ecosystem in this field. The fields of blockchain and cryptography are closely intertwined with various modern technological needs. Blockchain supports distributed and verifiable data recording, while cryptography plays a role in maintaining confidentiality, integrity, authentication, and the security of information exchange. Both are relevant to various sectors, including digital services, data governance, financial systems, supply chains, digital identity, and cybersecurity. Moving forward, this achievement is expected to inspire the UNSRI academic community to continue improving the quality of research, expand national and international collaborations, and produce research outputs that provide tangible benefits for society and technological development.
This 13th place national ranking serves as a catalyst for Sriwijaya University to further strengthen its focus on research and innovation in the fields of blockchain, cryptography, cybersecurity, and distributed technologies. This strengthening can be achieved through an increase in high-quality publications, interdisciplinary collaboration, student involvement in research, and partnerships with academic and industrial institutions.

Kegiatan ini menjadi ruang belajar dan berbagi pengalaman profesional bagi mahasiswa, alumni, serta peserta yang ingin memperdalam pemahaman mengenai keamanan jaringan dan penanganan masalah teknis pada infrastruktur digital.

COMNETS RG continued its series of “Meet with Experts” events for COMNETS alumni with a session focused on firewall troubleshooting. This event served as a space for students, alumni, and participants to learn and share professional experiences while deepening their understanding of network security and troubleshooting technical issues in digital infrastructure.
For this session, COMNETS RG featured M. Rafie Al Hamas, S.Kom., a Network Security Engineer at PT Cyber Sinergi Indonesia, as the speaker. Drawing on his professional experience in network security, he will share insights into common firewall issues and approaches to analyzing and resolving incidents based on real-world industry experience.
Through a real-world experience-based approach and relevant case studies, this session is expected to help participants understand the troubleshooting process in a more structured manner. Participants will gain an understanding of how to map out problems, interpret relevant indicators or logs, verify security policies, conduct measurable testing, and develop remediation steps tailored to the needs of their network environment.
