CARNAVAL IMWORK 7th Edition Highlights Key Issues of National Digital Transformation
PALEMBANG, November 25, 2025 – The commitment to bridge the competencies of college graduates with the real needs of industry continues to be a concern for all parties, including in this year's 7th annual CARNAVAL IMWORK event. Carnaval IM WORK is an initiative of a group of lecturers and researchers specializing in Networks, Enterprise, and Information Security (COMNETS) from the Faculty of Computer Science at UNSRI, in an effort to impact the surrounding community, especially in succeeding the national development agenda related to the provision of human resources in the digital era.
The theme of the 7th CARNAVAL IMWORK 2025 is "Challenges and Strategies in Implementing Digital Transformation in Indonesia." This theme was chosen because the acceleration of digitalization in various economic and government sectors is a hot issue at the moment. At the 7th CARNAVAL IMWORK 2025 event, the discussion will explore three main sub-themes that are considered crucial. These sub-themes are (1) Business Intelligence & Enterprise System, which discusses the utilization of data and integrated systems; (2) Cyber Security, which reviews risk mitigation and digital infrastructure security; and (3) Generative Intelligence, which discusses the potential and ethics of implementing Generative Artificial Intelligence in business innovation.
This strategic activity has been a regular agenda since 2019. The scientific concentration groups are Networks, Enterprise, and Information Security. The impact of this activity has been a close collaboration with the South Sumatra Career & Industry Partnership Synergy Association to ensure relevance to the business world and industry from the latest perspective in the industry. The hot issues discussed are very relevant to the current sustainable SDGs. The process of continuous knowledge sharing with industry has been the key to the success of this activity in bridging the gap between academia and industry needs. Along the way, there have been several impacts that can create opportunities for mutual synergy. The industry side can explain the current problems and challenges that are the main issues in the ongoing transformation process, while academics can obtain research material to be solved through a research approach. It is also noted that dozens of industry and government practitioners who have continued their higher academic studies have joined several postgraduate programs at Sriwijaya University.
The 7th CARNAVAL IMWORK 2025 event was held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at The Zuri Meeting Room, Jl. Radial Palembang, and was opened by the Vice Rector for Planning, Development, Cooperation, Internationalization and Alumni (PPKIA) of Sriwijaya University, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. H. Joni Arliansyah, M.T. Present were the team from the Directorate of Cooperation, Internationalization, and Alumni of Sriwijaya University to explore collaborations that could be created with the participating industries, especially alumni synergies.
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. H. Joni Arliansyah, M.T., conveyed the urgency of continuing and enhancing the collaboration that has been fostered so far. He stated, "This activity is not just an annual agenda, but a concrete manifestation of Sriwijaya University's commitment to making an impact on society, including the industrial world, by proactively responding to the dynamics and speed of the transformative digital era. Through this forum, we hope that knowledge transfer will occur, while ensuring that the UNSRI curriculum remains adaptive so that it can produce talented individuals who are ready to contribute fully to the foundation of Indonesia's digital economy." Closing his remarks, he expressed his hope that this sharing talk will lead to collaboration between academia and industry to bridge the gap between the two and provide mutual benefits.
On this occasion, the Vice Rector of PPKIA, accompanied by the Sub-Directorate of Alumni of Sriwijaya University, also pinned @IamUNSRI pins on several UNSRI alumni who have been active in industry and government as an effort to strengthen ties with alumni and open up opportunities in the future. Furthermore, at the opening session of IMWORK, the Secretary of the UNSRI Computer Systems Department, Huda Ubaya, symbolically handed over fifteen prospective fresh graduates who will be interning at PT. PUSRI with the theme of problem solving. Several speakers at this event included Dr. Rahmadian, MKM (Director of Services and Operations at RSMH), Akhmad Budiawan.ST (Instrumentation Manager at PT PUSRI Palembang), and Yudisthira, S.T., MBA. (AVP Business Development AI Tech Co. PT. Indosat Tbk).
Positive responses came from participants, including an alumnus of UNSRI S1 Informatics who currently works at TIK PT. Semen Baturaja, who said, "I think CARNAVAL IMWORK is very relevant and up-to-date. The focus on Digital Transformation and Cyber Security shows that the campus and industry associations truly understand the direction of today's technological challenges. As an alumnus working in the cybersecurity sector, the knowledge-sharing session from the industry provided practical risk mitigation perspectives, complementing the theoretical foundation we gained in college. This is an essential forum that successfully bridges theory and field implementation."
In line with this, an academic and lecturer from the Information Technology study program at Multi Data University Palembang emphasized the importance of this initiative. "This collaboration deserves praise. Digital transformation is not only about technology, but also business strategy. The session on Business Intelligence & Enterprise System provided valuable insights into how data has become a key asset for companies. For us in the academic world, this information is very important in order to align the curriculum so that students not only master technical skills, but also have a strategic understanding of business. CARNAVAL IMWORK is a vital tool for improving the quality of higher education," he explained.
CARNAVAL IMWORK is not merely an academic-industry discussion forum, but a crucial momentum to ignite the spirit of innovation and cross-generational collaboration in facing the challenges of digital transformation in the future.
