PALEMBANG – Early January 2024 marked a moment of success for the Computer Network and Information Security (COMNETS) Research Group at the Faculty of Computer Science, University of Sriwijaya. Three active researchers, nicknamed the "Infosec Geeks," successfully defended their research in comprehensive exams for the Bachelor's (S.Kom) and Master's (M.Kom) degrees.
Master's Degree (M.Kom) Success On January 12, 2024, COMNETS researchers officially earned their Master of Computer Science degrees:

Heru Saputra, M.Kom., with the research title: "Malware Detection in Portable Document Format (PDF) Files Using Byte Frequency Distribution (BFD) and the Support Vector Machine (SVM) Approach".
Achievements At the undergraduate level, two young researchers also demonstrated high competence through network security-based research on January 8, 2024.:

Said Usman Rizieq, S.Kom., with the research title: "Classification of DDoS Attacks on IoT Networks Using the K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN) Algorithm".

Septiani Kusuma Ningrum, S.Kom., with the research title: "Visualization of Lateral Movement Attacks by Applying the K-Means Clustering Method".
COMNETS congratulates the researchers for their dedication to advancing knowledge in the field of information security. This success is expected to motivate other researchers to continue producing innovative works that benefit society and industry.
