From Zero Trust to PDP Law Compliance: Industry Experts Discuss Banking Network Management at FASILKOM UNSRI

The public lecture featured a prominent speaker, Mr. Bambang Wahyu Nugroho, a senior practitioner who served as Vice President of the Operations & Services Division at Bank Sumsel Babel until his retirement in 2025.

The presence of the guest speaker provided valuable insight from the perspective of an industry practitioner, highlighting the two sides of the coin in banking network management, namely technical and managerial challenges. In the technical realm, banking IT teams are faced with highly complex networks with very diverse device infrastructures. Meanwhile, in the managerial realm, the biggest challenge is the demand for compliance with various strict regulations, one of which is the Personal Data Protection Law (PDP Law).
To address these challenges, the speakers presented a number of strategic solutions. Fundamentally, banks must design a robust network architecture, which includes the implementation of network segmentation, Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), and real-time network monitoring systems.
