Palembang — Another proud achievement has been made by an alumnus of the Faculty of Computer Science (FASILKOM) at Sriwijaya University (UNSRI) on the national higher education scene. Muhammad Rizki Febrian, S.Kom., an alumnus of FASILKOM UNSRI, has successfully qualified for the Master’s to Doctoral Education Program for Outstanding Undergraduates (PMDSU), Class X, Year 2026, in the Computer Engineering program at the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS).
This achievement marks a significant milestone for UNSRI alumni and demonstrates the readiness of graduates in the fields of information technology and computer science to pursue master’s and doctoral degrees through the government’s flagship program aimed at developing top-tier human resources to produce future Young Doctors and Resilient Researchers who will carry forward current research efforts.
Muhammad Rizki Febrian previously completed his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science at FASILKOM UNSRI with the distinction of “Graduate on Time” (GoT). He graduated last month with honors and achieved a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.95/4.00. During his studies at UNSRI, Rizki was active in student organizations and joined the COMNETS Research Group (RG) at UNSRI, which focuses on computer networks and cybersecurity. These academic and research experiences served as a key asset in his academic journey toward doctoral studies.
Relying not only on his academic achievements, Rizki also possesses a number of competencies that strengthened his competitiveness during the PMDSU selection process, which included stages leading up to the final interview with a prospective advisor at ITS. One of these is his English proficiency, demonstrated by a TOEFL ITP score of 550.
In terms of scientific publications, this FASILKOM UNSRI alumnus has also produced four scientific papers. This track record forms part of his academic portfolio, demonstrating his experience in research and scientific writing.
Furthermore, another key asset is his possession of six international certifications in the fields of computer networking and cybersecurity. These certifications include MTCNA, MTCRE, CSCU, CompTIA DataSys+, OCNA-W, and OCNA-RS. The combination of academic achievements, research experience, English proficiency, scientific publications, and international professional certifications serves as a foundation that strengthens Rizki’s position in pursuing further education in Computer Science at ITS.
This success also demonstrates that education at FASILKOM UNSRI is not only focused on academic achievement on campus but also on producing graduates with professional competencies who are capable of competing at both the national and global levels. This alumni achievement also highlights COMNETS UNSRI’s commitment to preparing human resources in the field of information technology who are adaptable to technological advancements, possess research experience, and have their competencies recognized through international certifications.
For UNSRI, the success of alumni in gaining admission to the PMDSU program at leading universities such as ITS is a tangible contribution to building the institution’s academic recognition and competitiveness. These alumni achievements serve as an indicator that UNSRI graduates possess the capacity to excel in various competitive academic and professional environments. Furthermore, as stated by Dr. Sutarno, Head of the Department of Computer Systems, when contacted, he noted that this achievement aligns with UNSRI’s commitment to continuously strengthen its international reputation and recognition on the path toward becoming a World Class University (WCU). Alumni who are able to pursue further education at leading institutions, produce scholarly works, and hold internationally recognized certifications and competencies play a vital role in building UNSRI’s network and reputation on a global scale.
Prof. Deris Stiawan, Ph.D. (Deputy Director of the UNSRI Alumni Office) added that this achievement is not only a personal accomplishment for the alumnus but also represents the university’s contribution in preparing top talent to support Indonesia’s “Golden Age.” Moving forward, it is hoped that the work of alumni like Rizki will continue to contribute to the development of science and technology—particularly in the fields of computer networks and cybersecurity—while simultaneously raising UNSRI’s profile through achievements and recognition at both the national and international levels.
